Individual preferences in wine tends to vary a great deal. If you are not exactly sure what you are looking for, the huge selection of different choices can be quite overwhelming.
If you need to buy a bottle of wine for anyone as a gift, you will need to know first, the type of wine they enjoy the best. An award winning Zinfandel is not going to score any points with someone who is passionate about Merlot.
It is much easier to pick out something for yourself. Whether a wine has won awards or comes highly recommended is pretty irrelevant unless you actually like it.
There is an immediate reaction when you first discover your ideal wine. During the experimentation process when trying lots of different bottles to establish what you like best, it is not necessary to spend much on individual bottle of wine. Irrespective of its cost or reputation, if a wine is not your preferred kind, then you will simply not be particuarly taken with it. People experience an instant emotional reaction when they taste a wine that they love. This is when suddenly, you will understand the huge passion so many individuals have for great wine and will finally realise what all the fuss is about!.
There are very divided opinions over which wines can or should, be defined as ‘fine’. A fine wine is anything priced over £10 to a number of individuals. Another person will not think a wine fine unless it cost them more than £30.
Anything described as ‘fine’ gives an implication of great quality, but people have very different perceptions about quality too. Lots of companies get their reputation as fine wine producers due to past success.
Whilst there can be some merit in an incredible track record, there are no guarantees. It comes down to individual taste. If a bottle of wine is fine in your opinion, then to you, it is Your own experience of individual bottles of wine will guide you to what you like best.
A great way to experience different wines is to sign up to one of the reputable wine clubs to have a great selection delivered to your door at a discounted price, or alternatively, just pop in to your local wine shop and take advantage of their personal advice and recommendations.
